NORTH-WOOD BUFFALO RANCH McCall, IDAHO
We're here in Idaho, raising Buffalo because we've discovered one of Nature's most beautiful places and Nature's Healthiest Meat products and now we want to share them with YOU!
Our small Buffalo herd aka American Bison can be seen, weather permitting, most days in their corral or pasture on Smylie Lane between McCall and Donnelly.
Your ranchers are Larry Wilhite, born and raised in Star, Idaho, retired business consultant, and retired teaching at Cascade and McCall-Donnelly schools. His wife is Eloris Chisholm, a 24 yr McCall resident & business woman. Eloris shared with Larry that she'd dreamed of having a buffalo ranch for over 40 years. Studying about them and primitive survival living had been one of her passions. After learning to spin Buffalo’s soft-as-cashmere wool, she also discovered how naturally healthy their meat is and how economically they can be raised and maintained. Larry’s response was: “This is a time for dreams to come true, so let’s do it!”
We are members of the NBA (National Bison Association) and started our nucleus breeding herd with a beautiful big Bull (Chism), 6 calves and 8 heifers. We adopted an adult heifer on Valentine’s Day of '08. She could not give up her 3 life-long companion goats! Raised from an infant with them, she thinks she's a goat instead of a buffalo, and just wants to 'hang' with the goats. So... we call her a Guffalo! One of the goats had a baby and then '09 brought us two more babies, then we had 6 goats! Our daddy goat, 'Buffalo Billy', prefered the buffalo to the goats he loved to pretend he was a buffalo and butted heads with them until he was dizzy! That's two kinds of Guffalos.
North-Wood Buffalo Ranch has become a supplier of natural grass-fed, healthy, American Bison. From burgers & steaks to roasts & jerky... even awesome Buffalo-dogs. If you eat meat, this is amazing. Its very red (not commercially dyed) and less in cholesterol than even skinless chicken breast! High in Iron which especially important for women of child bearing age and small children; Protien for muscle tone and energy; and high in Vit. B-12 needed for brain and nervous system. We had Buffalo Prime Rib Roast for Thanksgiving. It was delicious and preferred to the turkey by our guests.
WE ALSO DO OUTDOOR WEDDINGS AT OUR RANCH AND OTHER BEAUTIFUL LAKE, RIVER AND MOUNTAIN PLACES TOO.
