How Much does a Buffalo aka American Bison weigh?
The average young harvest age animal
weighs approximately 800-1000 lbs live weight or
"on the hoof".
When harvested, parcled and packaged
there is a loss of live weight by about 60-65%
This is due to the removal of all hide, bone, trim, fluids and waste material.
Net packaged weight is not live or on the hoof weight,
and it is not 'rail or hanging' weight.
A young harvest age animal is approximately
a Net Package weight of 360-400 lbs
You will only be charged the actual net weight of the meat you receive.
